Dogs Deserve The Best we Can give Them

Standard

There are those that question , are some of us humanizing dogs too much?

Expensive outfits, designer Collars, organic treats and feed, human grade vegan grooming products…

When this is in reference to cute , frilly outfits, having for the most part owned Doberman’s, German Shepherds and other large breed dogs, cute, frilly or matching outfits are not my accessory of choice, but an occasional collar charm, a decorative bandana are not out of the question, and if the dogs decked out in pinks and frills enjoy oohs, aahs and extra attention because of it …why not?

When it comes to health care, I do have a strong opinion and that is I feel dogs deserve the best health benefits and treatments that pet owners and science can provide them. Every day their presence in our lives is scientifically proven to provide us with numerous life enhancing and medical benefits. Why would we not want to provide them with the same?

As science begins to recognize not only the long known and accepted emotional advantage of pets interaction with their people, but also the documented evidence of how the companionship of our pets lower blood pressure which in turn helps to prevent heart disease ,the health and wellness factor of pets is leading to even more in-depth benefits to human healthcare.

According to an article by the editor of Your Dog, American Association of Pet Product Manufactures, Pet interaction can even ultimately lower health care costs. Since stress has now been identified as one of the leading causes behind many diseases and scientific research has proven that pets lower stress levels.

Service dogs that can sense oncoming potentially life threatening medical conditions can alert their human in time to prevent a potentially more costly health crisis. Other studies our showing that autistic children are benefitting from close interaction with specially trained dogs.

So when I hear someone say, human grade ingredients , natural and organic treats and skin care products may be good for people , but are we going to far by integrating them into our dogs lifestyle, I have to reply , where would our lifestyle be without the enrichment of dogs in it?

When It’s time to say Farewell my Friend

It takes you on a healing journey with words of wisdom, comforting affirmations, an inspirational reading, a guided meditation, and soothing harp music. The CD is 49 minutes with an accompanying 20-page booklet insert that provides insight, healing strategies and practical resources. The gentle, grounded words in this CD

Just as I found comfort in listening to a special music CD as I grieved for Pepper, I hope that some part of this CD will help in the healing process for you or the person to whom you give the CD.  I was further motivated on my journey to create this CD when my 13 year old dog, Zep, died just four months after Pepper.  The loss of my dogs is what inspired me to dedicate this CD to my beloved dog children, Pepper and Zep.
Karen Litzinger’s Journey with Animals: My inspiration for the Healing Hearts pet loss CD came while driving home from the veterinarian with the cremains of my 15 year old dog, Pepper, who I had since a puppy from a local rescue league.  Originally I wanted to create something that a vet could give grieving clients right after the euthanasia procedure to supplement the personal support and follow-up sympathy card.  I created a pet loss booklet for veterinarians, but the CD is what I hope will serve those experience pet loss grief in a more profound way.
